#Activist_Imprisoned


This woman, experienced midwife in profession trained from Medium School of Medicine and president of an NGO in operation in Takeo and Kampot provinces before her arrest, is a prisoner of conscience. She had been nearly 5 years in Takeo prison without justifiable guilt and was just released.
Just as a leader of her community in every effort to protect their land by opposing to the land seizure by people in power and their private company partners, she was lured to present herself at the provincial court to cooperate with the judiciary institution, but was arrested and put behind bar from early 2010.
She did behave courageously -- not less a bit than the Phnom Penh's Boeng Kak activists Tep Vanny and Yom Bopha -- but was not concerned or cared for enough by the BIG NGOs and the UNHRC office in operation in Phnom Penh.
She did challenge to the threats by authorities to claim thousands of hectares of community's land and fields they farmed years before the promulgation of the 2001 laws on forest, and thus save dozens of community people from being violently cracked down and arrested by undertaking herself alone the responsibility in the sit-in protest in Kirivong district, Takeo ...
